In the Indian music industry, A.R. Rahman has long been at the pinnacle of fame, having composed music for numerous blockbuster films and being considered one of the highest-paid composers in Bollywood. However, there is now another composer who has surpassed him in terms of remuneration.
Anirudh Ravichander, a renowned music composer, has taken the industry by storm and overtaken some of the biggest names, including A.R. Rahman, Arijit Singh, Pritam, and Diljit Dosanjh, to become the highest-paid music composer in India at the age of just 33.
Anirudh began his career in 2012 with the massive hit song “Why This Kolaveri Di” from the film 3, which went viral and gained over 450 million views on YouTube. This track catapulted him to international fame and marked the beginning of his successful career.
Since then, Anirudh has composed music for several hit films, including projects starring superstars like Vijay, Rajinikanth, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Shah Rukh Khan.
In 2023, Anirudh made his Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan’s film Jawan, where he not only gained massive popularity but also surpassed A.R. Rahman in terms of fees. While Rahman typically charges around 7-8 crore INR per project, Anirudh received 10 crore INR for composing the music for Jawan.
In 2024, Anirudh continued his success by composing music for films such as Devara with N.T. Rama Rao Jr., the Tamil film Jailer, and Leo. For each of these projects, Anirudh’s fee was 8 crore INR, further solidifying his position as the highest-paid music composer in India.
